St. Barthélemy, aka St. Barts, is a small corner of land lost in the Caribbean Sea, one of the Navigable Islands of the Antilles Archipelago. This picturesque land was once discovered by the ubiquitous Columbus, naming it after his own brother Bartolomeo

Since then the island has experienced a lot of turmoil: it was passed on like a baton to the French, the Swedes, the British and the knights of the Order of Malta.

At one time it was even ruled by pirates: it is said that the treasure of the famous corsair nicknamed the Fighter still rests in the local coves.
