Mysterious Antarctica is a continent located in the very south of the Earth.
The center of Antarctica roughly coincides with the South Geographic Pole. It is washed by the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans. Since 2000, the waters bordering Antarctica south of 60°S have been called the Southern Ocean by the International Hydrographic Organization.
It was discovered on January 16, 1820 by the Russian expedition led by Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev.
