In the ancient times, there was a village called Kumzar, nestled on the cliffs of Musandam, overlooking the vast blue sea. The people of Kumzar were known to be fearless and brave seafarers, venturing out into the open sea to catch fish, pearl and trade. However, their bravery was tested one day when a giant sea monster appeared out of nowhere, attacking their boats and devouring their catch.
The villagers were frightened and they sought help from their wise elder who knew of a mystical creature that could defeat the sea monster. According to the legend, the creature was a giant squid, residing in the depths of the sea, with the power to control the waves and fight off the monster. The elder advised them to set out into the sea and search for the squid, offering it a tribute in exchange for its assistance.
The villagers set out in their boats, braving the rough seas and high waves until they reached the spot where the elder had told them the giant squid was. There they offered a pearl as tribute to the mighty creature, and the squid accepted it, raising its massive tentacles and commanding the waves to calm down. The villagers knew that they had been heard and went back home, grateful for the giant squid's mercy.
The next day, they set out to the sea again, this time with the giant squid leading them. They reached the spot where the sea monster had been sighted, and the squid immediately engaged in a fierce battle with the monster, each of them trying to overpower the other. After a long and grueling fight, the giant squid emerged victorious, and the sea monster retreated back to the depths of the sea, never to be seen again.
From that day onwards, the villagers of Kumzar revered the giant squid as their protector and savior, and they celebrated its victory over the sea monster every year with great joy and festivity. The story of the brave seafarers and their mystical protector, the giant squid, became a legend that was passed down through generations, inspiring many more seafarers to take on the challenges of the vast and unpredictable sea.
