A resort town where you can find diving, fishing, horse riding, golf, dining in a grotto,
wine tasting, and Corsican cookery lessons.

As you approach the port of Murtoli in southern Corsica, you can't help but wonder what lies beyond the rocky cliffs and serene waters. Nestled in a secluded cove surrounded by lush vegetation, this hidden gem offers an enchanting escape for travelers seeking peace and quiet.

What sets Murtoli apart from other ports in the region is its commitment to preserving its natural beauty. Unlike other ports that cater to the tourist crowd, Murtoli remains unspoiled, with only a handful of boats docking at any given time.

As you disembark, you'll be greeted by the sound of gentle waves and the fresh scent of sea breeze. You can explore the area on foot, taking in the stunning views of the Mediterranean and the rugged terrain. A short hike up the cliffs will take you to the charming village of Sartene, known for its narrow streets, historic buildings, and delicious local cuisine.

If you're feeling adventurous, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters or try your hand at fishing. And if you're in the mood for some pampering, indulge in a spa treatment at one of the luxury resorts dotted along the coast.

As the day draws to a close, settle in for a magical sunset and watch as the sky transforms into a palette of vibrant colors. The peaceful ambiance of Murtoli will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, making it the perfect destination for those seeking a serene escape.

The port of Murtoli, located on the southern coast of Corsica, is steeped in legend and myth. According to local lore, the area was once home to a powerful sorceress who used her magic to manipulate the winds and tides of the sea. Sailors passing through the port were warned to beware of her enchantments, which could lead them astray or wreck their ships on the rocky shores.

Legend has it that the sorceress fell in love with a handsome sailor who had been shipwrecked on the coast. In order to win his love, she used her powers to create a beautiful garden of roses and jasmine that would bloom all year round, a feat considered impossible due to the harsh Mediterranean climate. The sailor was entranced by the garden and the sorceress, but his heart ultimately belonged to another.

Heartbroken, the sorceress turned her powers against the sailor and his ship, causing a fierce storm to arise and dragging the vessel into the depths of the sea. To this day, sailors passing through the port of Murtoli still offer prayers to the sorceress, seeking her favor and protection from the dangers of the sea. The beautiful garden she created, known as the Garden of the Sorceress, is said to still exist and can be visited by those brave enough to seek it out.
