In ancient times, the port of Cannes was said to be guarded by a powerful sea monster known as the Tarasque. It was said to be a fierce beast, with the head of a lion and the body of a serpent, able to sink entire ships with a single swipe of its tail.
The people of Cannes feared the Tarasque and made offerings to it in order to appease its wrath. However, one day a brave warrior named Saint Honorat arrived in Cannes and vowed to defeat the monster. Armed with nothing but his faith and a holy relic, he sailed out to meet the Tarasque.
As he neared the beast, he raised the holy relic and began to pray. To the amazement of all who watched, the Tarasque suddenly calmed and bowed its head in submission. Saint Honorat then bound the beast and sailed it back to Cannes, where he presented it to the townspeople as a sign of his victory.
From that day forward, the people of Cannes revered Saint Honorat as their patron saint and protector against the dangers of the sea. The legend of the Tarasque continued to be told for generations, serving as a reminder of the power of faith and the bravery of those who dare to face their fears.
