The parish church of the Assumption of Mary was built in medieval times, but many decorations were made in later periods, including Baroque and Renaissance pieces. The church of St. Roch and church of St. Nicholas are also worth visiting. Have fun, socialize and fall in love with Dalmatian lifestyle and culture at Sali Cultural summer festival (every Thursday) and Sali festival (first weekend of August). Try the freshest grilled fish and seafood at Fisherman’s Evening. Go up the Veli Rat Lighthouse surrounded by a little pine forest and fall in love with the turquoise marine views. Take a look at the St. Nicholas chapel nearby. Go diving and explore the underwater wonders of Kornati islands, Telascica bay and the wrecks of Michelle ship. Hire a boat and explore the azure waters nearby Kornati islands. Gaze at the magnificent mix of colors in Golubinka cave near Brbiscica bay and dive through the Dragon’s eye pool. Go for a walk in the Talascica Nature Park and go up the rocky cliff coasts of saltwater Mir lake. Hike along the “Stene” cliffs along the shore and admire the breathtaking marine scenery. Explore the natural wonder of stalactites and stalagmites at Strasna pec cave.

Drugi Otok island has many wonderful beaches to offer:

Sakarun beach offers crystal clear waters and fine white sandy shore. Veli Zal beach is quite a wild fine pebble/white sand beach with waters so clean that sometimes you can see dolphins swimming not that far away. Talascica bay is one of the most beautiful bays of the Adriatic sea. Veli Rat pebble beach is shady and perfect for families with children. Brbiscica bay is very secluded and isolated. Sandy Lojisce beach is very quiet and unspoilt.

Savor the rich tastes of Dalmatian cuisine at Marinov Magazin, Kornat, Spagertimo, Kod Stipe and Tamaris restaurants. Feel the rustic charm and fall in love with the traditional dishes at Konoba Trapula in Sali and Konoba Roko in Zaglav.

The legend has it that a long, long time ago the fairies decided to separate the island of Dugi Otok in two parts. So they found the narrowest place and started digging, but were caught and got trapped in a cave that is now known as Strasna Pec, which means “scary oven”.
