The palace is a mixture of architectural styles: its ancient origins betray a lack of symmetry. Thus, in order to appreciate the architecture, the palace's wings and bodies must be viewed separately. The main fa├žade looks like the terrace of a Renaissance palazzo, with its different enclosures forming a single palace. The buildings, however, are united by a single rusticated ground floor. The Renaissance architecture seems to mask the earlier fortifications whose towers surround the palace's classical facades.
